What are your most impactful projects at DRAW?

Grove City Area School District – Hillview Elementary School: This school was an existing renovation project with a new gym addition. The design concept was focused on STEAM. All design aspects of the project were themed around promoting collaborative environments for the students and staff around STEAM.

IBEW Training Facility & Union Hall projects: Both buildings were new construction and are pillars in the community, promoting training both men & women in our community to be electricians. The buildings are designed with various green/sustainable aspects. The training facility building is designed to be a learning tool with exposed wall cavities throughout the building showing wiring and wall construction.

New Castle High School: This was a controversial project within the community as it included tearing down the existing historic high school building along with many adjacent historical homes adjacent to the school to expand the campus footprint. Many public meetings and design renditions were created for this project to get to the final design. The community embraced the existing building in the new design by creating artwork that contained elements from the old building, as well as creating murals to commemorate the old building and its historical attributes.

What keeps you coming back to work everyday?

I am driven by the people who use the projects we design. Seeing the user faces at the school openings and dedications is what keeps me coming back to work to do it all over again. Their excitement and joy in seeing their ideas come to life is so rewarding. The buildings we design impact communities for years to come. It’s a small imprint I can make in our communities to provide for future generations.
