Get to know Ashlyn:

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I like to climb, hang out with friends, hike, ski, read, and chill with my cat.

What are your most impactful projects at DRAW?

Slippery Rock Area High School: This was the first project I worked on at DRAW. We had an incredibly talented design team, wonderful clients that we got to share the development of the design with frequently, and the design was awesome. Our concept came from geology, and the abstract concepts we took from that part of nature were fun to design and detail.

Carnegie Elementary School presented several site constraints, but also opportunities to greatly enhance the functionality of the existing facility through thoughtful, strategic design moves. We improved safety, introduced vibrant new spaces, and transformed existing areas into inspiring learning environments—all while accommodating a growing student population within many constraints. This has been the most complicated existing conditions school I’ve worked on, but I’ve also learned the most. Again, wonderful clients and community, and it has been great to be a part of such a transformative project.

What keeps you coming back to work everyday?

Having a tangible end goal where great design, problem-solving, and technical detailing culminate in an impactful project is very rewarding. No detail is too small to consider, and no line drawn is trivial when the building enters the construction phase.

I also really enjoy the company of the people I work with. There is a strong sense of camaraderie and goofiness.
