Hillel Academy New Boys High School

Honoring Heritage & Elevating Education

The Hillel Academy of Pittsburgh transformed a century-old Squirrel Hill mansion located on the property adjacent to the Academy into a state-of-the-art educational building to serve as its new Boys High School.

The Boys High School includes nine classrooms and a multi-purpose, large, and small group casual learning space that also supports the dining needs of the students.  The classrooms are uniquely sized to support the instructional programs as well as to take advantage of the unique architectural features of the former mansion.

The design took great care to preserve the residential look and feel of the facade on Bartlett Street while creating a modern entrance to face the Academy’s main building.  The preservation effort included some of the building’s original woodwork and stained-glass windows.
