Eden Hall Upper Elementary School

When Education Meets Ecosystems

The design for Pine-Richland School District’s Eden Hall Upper Elementary School created school neighborhoods to promote the District’s team-teaching methodology. The DRAW Collective design team created the vision for a sustainable environment that included trees inside the building and a variety of outdoor learning spaces.

Themes within each ‘community’ represent the earth’s biomes, aquatics, deserts, forests and grasslands with colors and finishes derived from each biome. Each classroom is equipped with modern technology, including interactive boards.

A 550-seat “Exploratorium” multi-purpose auditorium with retractable seating provides an innovative space that accommodates concerts, assemblies, and grade level gatherings. The Eden Hall project was designed in accordance with the LEED rating system, but ultimately did not pursue a LEED certification. Green features include non-mow grasses, light and heat sensors, outdoor classrooms, and skylights.
