Mt. Lebanon Rec Center Receives $850,000 in Funding for Improvements

Congressman Chris Deluzio, along with state and local leaders, joined the Mt. Lebanon Commissioners to celebrate $850,000 in funding to advance improvements to the  Mt. Lebanon Recreation Center.

These upgrades are part of a broader effort outlined in the Mt. Lebanon Parks Master Plan, recently completed by Pashek + MTR. DRAW Collective collaborated with Pashek + MTR on the project, leading the evaluation and planning for the Rec Center’s renovation and expansion. The work focuses on enhancing the building’s exterior, improving ADA accessibility, and creating more opportunities for all Mt. Lebanon residents. Planned upgrades will improve connectivity between the first and second floors, creating a safer and more accessible experience for visitors.

Accessibility remains a crucial component in these upgrades. “Having that interior accessible connection that’s available to the public is really important to us because we really value accessibility for all users,” said Assistant Municipal Manager Ian McMeans.

The Rec Center master plan identified the need to improve the building’s functionality and accessibility. After working with user groups and key stakeholders, DRAW Collective’s recommendations also included a new recreation center that would ultimately enhance users’ experience and promote a healthier lifestyle for Mt. Lebanon residents. This recommendation remains under consideration, with the functionality and ADA accessibility improvements taking priority.
