Our Story

Who we are

DRAW Collective specializes in designing facilities that matter in the lives of the people and communities our clients serve. Our mission is to improve health & wellness and learning environments by encouraging the best design thinking in everyone.

Industry experts and practicing architects Daniel Engen, Cassandra Renninger, John Reid, Chris Brown, Mark Scheller, Jacklyn Cowan, and Elizabeth Cronin lead our practice. They actively strengthen the health and longevity of the firm while fostering leadership in design for learning, health & wellness, and community projects.

Norman B. Kuhn and C. Edgar Newcomer founded our firm in 1945 as a regional healthcare and educational design practice. Over time, we evolved into Valentour English Bodnar and Howell (VEBH) and now operate as DRAW Collective. We continue to serve communities in and around Western Pennsylvania while expanding our leadership through the empathetic design of spaces focused on learning, health & wellness, and community. We build on our strong foundation in healthcare and educational architecture as we elevate the design experience of these highly specialized facilities through forward-reaching, creative solutions for both new and long-term clients.
