A New Era for the Steel Valley School District
Ahead of the 2026-27 school year, the new Steel Valley Elementary School held a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking a major milestone for the Steel Valley and Mon Valley communities. For the first time in Steel Valley School District’s history, every student will learn and grow on one campus.
Community members, local and state representatives, and project team members gathered at the William V. Campbell campus on Friday, August 21st to celebrate the official opening of the new school. With words from Acting Superintendent Dr. Brian Plichta, Board President Robyn Guy, Board Vice President Daniel Rojtas, Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis, and Principal Kimberly Winters, the ceremony highlighted how the new building will strengthen not only the students’ education, but their futures and the people they will become.
The cutting-edge facility, designed to support 21st-century learning, will serve grades Pre-K through 5 and house several community spaces for use during after-school hours. The design honors the surrounding communities and the rich history of the Steel Valley region. Learn more about all the spaces throughout the building.
