Science Labs Renovations
Existing Labs Re-Thought
DRAW is working with West Virginia University to renovate several chemistry and biology labs on their Potomac State College campus. These renovations will bring new life to ageing teaching spaces and include lab spaces, prep rooms, and office space – as well as a comprehensive upgrade to the building’s electrical services. The existing lab spaces will be completely reconfigured featuring improved floor layouts, new fume hoods and laboratory casework, fully accessible stations, upgraded MEP systems, and new finishes throughout the rooms that align with university branding standards.
The improved space plans create two separate chemistry labs from what was one large lab to complement typical class sizes and provides safer access to the fume hoods and safety equipment. The renovations also promote better sight lines, easier access to the prep lab, and designated spaces with co-located accessible fixtures.
These renovations are carefully calibrated to elevate the student experience by creating spaces designed for learning while providing a safer environment for students and a new appearance that supports the university’s branding standards.
