Phased Science Building Transformation

Science Reborn

DRAW has been working at Waynesburg University since 1988, and over that time has completed projects of all sizes, including 10 new buildings and 100+ renovation, addition and maintenance projects and studies.

Over a five year, phased construction program from 2018 – 2023, Stewart Science Hall underwent a total transformation. The project was accomplished in six methodically planned construction phases that allowed the University to continue using the building. Stewart Hall is home for the University’s Biology, Chemistry and Forensic Science, Math, Physics, and Computer Science, and Nursing Departments. Each phase of work was planned to average around $5 million. The $24 million renovation/addition project has created a number of shared classrooms as well as multiple laboratories to meet specific requirements for each department, including a nursing lab. The building’s facade was replaced over two construction seasons to improve the building’s appearance and energy efficiency, and to provide a more appropriate gateway to the campus and its traditional architecture. A stair tower with an elevator to serve each of the five floors in the building was also added.

Additional projects have included renovating numerous classroom, office, meeting, and restroom spaces – many of which are located in the historic buildings on campus, five new Residence Hall buildings housing more than 350 students, the new Stover Campus Center, and a stadium/new fieldhouse study.
