Waynesburg U. celebrates 175 years as it breaks ground on new Center for Criminal and Forensic Investigation

Waynesburg University President Douglas G. Lee remarked, “As we celebrate our 175th year, our journey of progress continues with the commencement of this new building. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our generous donors whose support propels our growth.”

Waynesburg University’s longstanding commitment to supporting local and regional first responders through its Criminal Justice Program is set to reach new heights with the establishment of the Center. This facility will not only enrich training opportunities but also foster invaluable connections between students and industry professionals. A diverse range of academic programs, spanning from criminal justice administration to cybersecurity and forensics, will benefit from both classroom instruction and hands-on experiences provided by the Center.

DRAW worked with the Univesity on a design for the building that will accommodate diverse needs, the Center will feature a spacious area capable of hosting events for up to 120 individuals, which can be seamlessly converted into three distinct classrooms equipped with cutting-edge technology. Additionally, the facility will include a conference room, office space, and ample room for practical learning activities.

Waynesburg University plays a pivotal role as a training and recruitment hub for law enforcement agencies at local, regional, and national levels, including esteemed organizations like the FBI, CIA, and ATF. The new Center will further bolster these efforts, providing enhanced physical infrastructure to support training initiatives.

Positioned adjacent to the University’s existing Crime Scene Investigation Center, the Center for Criminal and Forensic Investigation will complement the institution’s educational resources. Equipped with state-of-the-art virtual training equipment, such as a $110,000 patrol car simulator, students will engage in immersive, real-world simulations, fostering problem-solving skills critical for their future careers.

Recognized for its excellence, Waynesburg’s Criminal Justice Administration Program stands out as a top contender, ranking second overall among Pennsylvania’s 22 designated schools in College Factual’s 2023 assessment. With a consistent track record of providing exceptional value, the program continues to garner acclaim as a leading educational institution in the field
