The delivery of world-class medical services to growing communities creates opportunities for substantial investments that bring advanced medical services to people close to their homes.
This project added two patient towers to The Washington Hospital and was the largest expansion in its 100+ year history representing a sizeable commitment to the Washington community. It included 145,000 sq. ft. of new patient care space and significant renovations to adjacent spaces in the Hospital. The multi-story expansion included a new Emergency Department, a full Surgical Services Center, and a new Critical Care Unit.
The Emergency Department offers 34 exam/treatment rooms in 24,000 sq. ft. of space that provides an efficient patient flow from triage to treatment. The Department includes a separate Express Care area, a dedicated radiology suite, three isolation rooms that can be expanded into a separate ten-bed isolation suite, and a decontamination room.
Four new OR suites and the renovation of six existing OR suites expanded the Hospital’s capabilities in its new Surgical Services Center. The Center offers a spacious family waiting area and new pre- and post-op facilities to efficiently handle both in-patient and out-patient surgeries.
A new 26-bed critical care unit offers spacious rooms and an abundance of glass to improve visibility between the patients and nursing staff. The glass also permits natural daylight to reach the interior corridors and nurse stations.
