Renovation, Paul R. Stewart Science Building

Waynesburg University

Over a five year, phased construction program, Stewart Science Hall underwent a total transformation. The project was accomplished in six methodically-planned construction phases that allowed Waynesburg University to continue using the building. Stewart Hall is home for the University’s Biology, Chemistry and Forensic Science, Math, Physics, and Computer Science, and Nursing Departments.

Each phase of work was planned to average $5 million. The $22 million renovation/addition project has created a number of shared classrooms as well as multiple laboratories to meet specific requirements for each department. The building’s façade was replaced over two construction seasons to improve the building’s appearance and energy efficiency, and to provide a more appropriate gateway to the campus and its traditional architecture.

A stair tower with an elevator to serve each of the five floors in the building was added in one of the first construction phases.
