Community hospitals are presented with once-in-a-generation opportunities to dramatically improve their facilities and upgrade services. We approach these projects with extreme care and a thorough planning process knowing the magnitude of the effort for our client and the importance of getting the project right.
Allegheny Valley Hospital’s Emergency Services Department had not been significantly renovated in more than two decades. The project included 25 private patient exam/treatment rooms, five fast-track rooms, enlarged and enhanced waiting and triage, a large central nurse station, and properly located support areas, including medicine, nourishment, and storage that increased the department’s efficiency.
A multi-phased construction program ensured the continuous operation of AVH’s vital emergency services.
The renovation and expansion project also seized the opportunity to renovate and expand the hospital’s main entrance, lobby and gift shop and to separate the emergency department from outpatient registration. The design provides a new face and a refreshed identity for the Hospital.
The hospital’s fund-raising effort was assisted by the development of three-dimensional computer models and a virtual tour of the proposed improvements prior to construction.
