Crop & Kettle Food and Energy Hub

Nourishing Education

To help Beaver County citizens access fresh food and support local farmers, DRAW Collective partnered with Crop & Kettle and RiverWise to design concepts for a new Food & Energy Hub in Ambridge, PA. Together, the team organized the building into three main areas: a teaching kitchen for entrepreneurial programs, a market district anchored by a year-round farmers market, and a restaurant that features locally grown produce.

At the heart of the facility, the teaching kitchen provides an open, flexible space where community members can gain valuable skills to build careers in the food service industry. Meanwhile, the market district operates as a brick-and-mortar farmers’ market that sells locally produced groceries, making fresh ingredients more accessible to the community. Through this initiative, the market supports farmers by giving them a dedicated, year-round venue to sell their produce.

In addition, the Food & Energy Hub features a restaurant-style café that supports local farmers while giving aspiring entrepreneurs the opportunity to test and launch their business ideas in a real-world setting.

Beyond its core programming, the design incorporates community-accessible spaces—including a private dining room, conference room, and open classroom—to ensure the facility serves as a resource for both large and small local groups.

Currently, the team is advancing the Food & Energy Hub through the planning phase and developing the construction timeline.
